Duplicate Management Improvements - June 2026

New color coding, income and expense management, and several refinements to make merging duplicate cases clearer and easier.

Written by Isaac Simon

Merging duplicate cases is one of those everyday tasks that should feel simple, so we've spent some time making it clearer and easier to work through. This is a meaningful step, and there's more on the way (a better household merge workflow, among other things). We didn't want to hold these improvements back while we finish the rest, so here's what's new.

A quick rundown of what changed on the merge screen:

  • ROI statuses now read in plain language, like "No ROI," "ROI expired May 26, 2029," or "ROI valid through May 26, 2029," so they're quicker to scan.

  • Only the fields that disagree are shown. If a field has a value on one case and is blank on the other, we keep the filled-in value for you automatically.

  • Color-coded chips show which case each value is coming from.

  • The word "Other:" no longer appears in front of values, which makes the two case values easier to compare.

  • Checkbox fields now show what was checked on each case, so you can pick which values to keep.

  • Multi-line text fields are scrollable. If an entry looks cut off, hover over it and scroll to read the full text.

  • Income and expense sets can now be chosen from each case (previously they were all combined automatically).

Income and Expense Information is also now displayed when viewing the list of possible duplicate cases.

We hope you enjoy these improvements and that they make viewing and merging duplicates smoother.

Stay tuned for more to come!
