When sending an SMS Text Broadcast to your clients, we recommend keeping your message to 153 characters or less. This ensures your message sends as a single text, arriving to your clients in the correct order and as one clean message.
The hardcoded maximum for standard SMS (GSM-7) is around 1,500 characters. However, a message this long is broken into roughly 10 separate text messages on the recipient's end, and depending on their carrier, these can arrive out of order or appear jumbled, which isn't a great experience for your clients.
If you have longer information you'd like to share, such as event details, forms, or announcements, we recommend hosting that content elsewhere, like on your organization's website, and simply linking to it within your SMS message. This keeps your broadcast short, clean, and easy to read, while still giving clients access to the full details.
