The CharityTracker/Oasis Insight technical team recommends the following compatible devices to be used with our solutions. Please note that other models or devices may work well but have not yet been tested with the system.

Computer/Devices - Any PC or MAC built in the last 4 or 5 years should work fine. Make sure you have the latest version of your web browser on your computer. Our favorite and most highly recommended touchscreen device is the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and above. Chromebooks (with touch-screen) and Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite tablets have also been tested by our team. If you choose the Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite, you will need a "USB-C to USB" adapter in order to use a barcode scanner.

PLEASE NOTE: iPads are not compatible with our barcode system at this time.

Digital Signature Pads – If a program requires a digital signature to be captured at distribution, an agency can capture the digital signature using a mouse, touchscreen or a signature pads/devices that connects via USB:

Barcode Scanners – Let's focus on the hardware needed to work with the barcode features of CharityTracker or Oasis Insight. While there are many barcode scanners, we have tested and recommended one of the following models:

PLEASE NOTE: FOR WIRELESS SCANNERS THAT OFFER A BLUETOOTH CONNECTION, IT IS NOT ADVISABLE TO USE BLUETOOTH MODE. IT IS THE SLOWEST CONNECTION, AND IT MOST LIKELY WILL NOT WORK. USE THE "DONGLE" FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE.

Untested by our staff, but customers have used the following scanners successfully:

ID Cards - Our team's goal was to create a way to print client ID cards in an inexpensive way so there would not be a large cost barrier to implement the barcode scanning tools. There are two ways to print ID’s: One-by-one printed on a regular 8 1/2" x 11" standard sheet of paper or card stock from your printer. Or, print off ID cards in a "batch" using the "Avery Business Card 8371" template:

Laminator Machine - For extra protection, a member agency could invest in a business card laminator machine:

Webcam- Client photos can be taken with a webcam:

Printer – ID Cards as well as reports can be printed from CharityTracker. Any basic printer can be used to accomplish this:

ID Card Printer -- The Badgy 100 Plastic ID Card Printer is now fully tested and compatible with Oasis Insight and CharityTracker. It’s the most affordable ($599) ID card printer we have seen on the market and it works great. So what’s a third party barcode?

It means you can use barcodes that do not have to be generated in CharityTracker or Oasis Insight. Traditionally you would print the system generated ID card, cut it out, laminate it, then give it to your client. While this is easy and excellent functionality to take advantage of the efficiency of scannable barcodes, it limited you to only be able to use our ID cards.

Now, in addition to the system generated Client ID cards, you can scan any other type of existing barcode to associate it with your client and effectively use that as your new client ID card.

What types of third party barcodes are supported?

Code 128 or any 1-Dimensional Barcode with NO SPACES.
Pro Tip - Each barcode needs to be unique as cases cannot share the same barcode.

Where can I order pre-printed cards?

You can order cards online with a variety of companies or you can contact a print shop local to you. Remember to make sure a unique barcode is printed for every card. We suggest you start your numbering with "1000001".

If you go back to get more cards printed, make sure that you do not duplicate any barcodes that were previously printed. For example, if you got 1000 cards printed starting at "1000001", then your next print order should have cards starting at "1001001".
